Vero Beach police K-9 Rocky sniffs around one of almost 250 cars randomly selected for a drug-detection walk-by Friday morning in the parking lots at Vero Beach High School. More than a dozen law officers from four agencies used seven dogs to perform the walk-bys of cars and school lockers. The dogs showed interest in almost two dozen cars that later were searched by hand by law officers. After the searches, two students were arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia possession. The Indian River County School Board and school resource officers requested the searches, which included lockers at the Freshmen Learning Center.
